How we support study set-up
A coordinated route into UK commercial research delivery through the Commercial Research Delivery Centres (CRDCs)
The CRDC UK Network provides a coordinated, central point of contact for study set-up in the UK.
We work with sponsors and CROs to simplify engagement with the UK system and connect studies to CRDCs with the appropriate capability, capacity and delivery model.
Early engagement and feasibility
Early engagement helps ensure studies are placed in the right locations from the outset.
We support:
Study scoping and early discussion
Coordinated feasibility across Centres
A single Expression of Interest (EOI) process
This provides consolidated insight at pace, reducing duplication and supporting faster decision-making.
Identifying the right sites and delivery model
We help identify:
- Centres with the right expertise, capacity and experience
- Delivery across primary, secondary, specialist and community settings
- Appropriate approaches, including single-or multi-location delivery
We can also provide insight on:
- NHS trusts involved in delivery
- Principal Investigators and clinical expertise
- Patient populations and recruitment potential
This supports confident site selection and study placement.
Supporting efficient study set up
Through UK-wide coordination, we support:
Timely engagement between sponsors, CROs and Centres
Clear communication throughout study initiation
Alignment of set-up activity across Centres (CRDCs and non-CRDCs)
Our approach focuses on speed, clarity and consistency, helping studies progress efficiently into delivery.
Patient and public insight
When required or requested by sponsors, we can facilitate access to patient and public insight to:
PPIEP input is proportionate and aligned with local delivery arrangements.
- Inform study design
- Enhance participant-facing materials
- Support inclusive approaches
This is proportionate and aligned to study requirements.
Ongoing coordination
The Network continues to support coordination as studies move into delivery, while delivery remains led by CRDCs and their partners. The Network will support with escalations and problem solving, often creating opportunities for sharing of best practice among sites.
